Month 15: Decade Journey

Month 15, April 2025.

$1 million USD in 5 years, 60 months, but a journey of a decade.

It is crazy to think that I am already at 25% - Month 15 out of 60. Time flies. Hope I can make $1m USD by Month 60, but it will be EXTREMELY hard and not very realistic.

Where I am

April was insane, got a few more clients, more work and made more money.

$1,742.12 in my bank account.

It is crazy to think that in just 1 month I was able to almost match my entire full time job salary. Of course, this is not realistic for someone just starting up, I kinda knew what I needed to do in order to make money fast: Do something I am good at, for others. This is also not recurring revenue, so I have to grind every month.

By the way, this was all done through Upwork, without a website set up, without a professional email, without connections.

This was only possible because the distribution part of the business was easier because Upwork does the heavy lifting of sourcing clients. My only job is to be the best “option” between everyone on the platform.

I have focused a lot on Lead Generation and Go To Market systems and I think that is where I excel at and where I can help clients with.

I have also started my journey building content. In April I recorded more videos for the Udemy Course and finished it (not sure if I have talked about that in the last update).

P.s.: Side note here, I have used a tool called Cursorful that I want to give a shout out. It is a one time payment that has made my course at least 50% better. It records your screen but makes it visually appealing. Think of Loom but less headache.

I have no plans on monetizing this course any time soon. The purpose is basically to “show up and do the work”. This was good training for video content creation, since I am planning on doing more of it (youtube videos, tutorials, etc).

This is also going to help in creating “Authority”, I can say that I have a course on Apollo. people can google it and find me on Udemy. This is a strong social proof.

April was also the month that I set up the website for decadejourney.com and got my professional email at that domain (gui@decadejourney.com). I chose to use Squarespace because I don’t want to spend any time on the technical side of the website. This also allowed me to have Slack, which is going to be very useful moving forward.

Instead of writing my goals/activities on paper, I created a slack channel for myself, super simple, it is called goals and just contains my activities for that week. This is what it looks like:

I have found this simple method to be the most effective. It keeps me accountable and does not stress me out.

Where I am going

I have to start sharing my journey online. That has to be done in May, period. I plan on announcing that I am going full entrepreneur mode again and start sharing more of what I am doing.

My April plan and how it went:

  1. Finally launch my course and publish it on Udemy

    • 50% Done. Finished recording but did not publish it, still editing.

  2. Start posting more on LinkedIn about the Decade Journey

    • Not accomplished. Maybe I am scared of sharing. This has to change in May.

  3. Ramp up my clients for Automation / LeadGen in Upwork

    • 100% Done. This worked really well, but I need to be doing more of it.

May’s plan:

  1. FINALLY launch the course on Udemy.

  2. Announce that I am going full time entrepreneur again.

  3. Share my first content post on linkedin.

  4. Get at least 2 more clients on Upwork.

  5. 1st Newsletter draft for Decade Journey (maybe publish it?).

  6. Create my first automation for my own business (Decade Journey).

Just seeing my last month plan I can already notice my biggest flaw: impatience. I overestimate what I can do in a Month and underestimate what I can do in a decade. Hopefully we can change that with Decade Journey *wink*.

This has been a learning experience for me as well, I am not as stressed with money as I was back when I was founding Meshin, so this feels better. The fact that I am also making money contributes a lot. Hopefully we can keep that way and maybe add recurring revenue.
